June 23, 2007: CARDBOARD BOAT RACE Each year the Cardboard Boat Race takes place on the Tred Avon River in Talbot County, Maryland. The event is well within a 2-hour drive from Baltimore, MD, Washington, DC and Wilmington, DE.
Originally, the race was a rowdy beer-guzzling event between local yachtsmen who had never owned a boat but who were rumored to have stepped onto a boat at some time. Today the race has become the anchoring event of BBI's fund raising along with food sales and the T-shirt sales, memorializing the race day. Now the event is a family oriented fun-filled experience for all who watch and participate.
